Before administering BOTOX® injections, Dr. Bieniewicz examines our patients to determine whether BOTOX® Cosmetic is suitable for their needs. Women who are pregnant or nursing, for example, are not suitable candidates for BOTOX® treatments. Treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic typically takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Using a very fine needle, the doctor injects the specific muscles of the face that cause the skin to wrinkle. This method can be used to treat horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows). "Smile lines," which extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, can be treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic, but dermal fillers such as Restylane® or Radiesse® are better suited for the correction of these lines.
After treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic, patients typically begin to notice significant improvement in three to seven days. Although the results are not permanent, they will last for up to six months.
Of the various dermal fillers that are FDA-approved to reduce the prominence of facial lines and wrinkles, Restylane® has the distinction of being one of the safest and most effective. Particularly successful in treating lines around the nose and mouth, Restylane® can also be used to plump the lips and add definition to the cheeks.
The secret to the success of Restylane® in promoting a smoother complexion is its key ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide (sugar) that is responsible for maintaining the skin's moisture content. A naturally occurring, water-loving substance, hyaluronic acid plumps the skin, giving it increased volume. Over time, however, the skin's natural supply of hyaluronic acid is depleted. Restylane® injections restore this invaluable component of healthy skin.

When Radiesse® is first injected into the skin, tiny spheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) fill in wrinkles and restore lost volume. Over time, these microspheres are gradually absorbed by the body's natural processes; however, as Radiesse® also works to stimulate the production of new collagen, its effects can last well after the product has disintegrated.
Dr. Bieniewicz administers his Radiesse® treatments at East Islip Surgical. In less than 30 minutes, the doctor can target lines around the nose and mouth. Results are immediate and can last for up to a year or more. Radiesse® treatments can also often be combined with BOTOX® injections for a more dramatic result.

At our comfortable office in East Islip, Long Island, Dr. Bieniewicz begins the Obagi Blue Peel® treatment by applying a special blend of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and a blue solution to the skin. When the skin assumes a particular shade of blue, the peel is carefully removed.
Over the next several days, the skin will peel, and patients should take care to protect their skin from the sun. After the skin is completely healed, the patient’s complexion will appear clearer, brighter, and more youthful. More than one treatment may be recommended for optimal results.
